A Vote Against Us

At Pinder’s Pages, we’re more than a bookstore—we’re a place where LGBTQ+ voices are celebrated, and everyone is welcome. Our mission has always been to create a space where people can find themselves in the stories we share, feel supported, and know they’re not alone. While we might not have a permanent location, we are still a safe space.

The recent election brings new challenges that feel deeply personal to us and our community. For many, it may seem like just another political cycle, but for LGBTQ+ individuals and allies, it’s a direct threat to our rights, our marriages, and even our ability to live openly. As a local LGBTQ+ bookstore, we feel these impacts firsthand.

This incoming administration could seek to dissolve marriages like mine, strip away essential protections, and label LGBTQ+ books as “pornographic,” making it illegal to provide young readers with inclusive stories. This is more than politics—it’s our lives, our rights, and our ability to share stories that matter.

That headline from PBS News is just one of many stories popping up reporting on how deeply impactful the results of Election Day 2024 are to young people.

We know many in our community feel the urgency of this moment. Now, more than ever, we’re standing strong, honoring who we are, and defending our right to exist openly and authentically. We believe it’s time for everyone, especially those close to us, to understand the stakes and educate themselves on what’s truly at risk.

To our friends, customers, and allies: thank you for standing with us. You’re the reason we keep going, and together, we’ll continue building a world where everyone can thrive. Here at Pinder’s Pages, your voice and presence matter—today, tomorrow, and always.

Remember you are loved and there is a place for you.

With love, and in solidarity,

🌈
